【趣旨】
In this talk, we ask how a post-European philosophy might be possible and what might constitute such a philosophy to come. At the beginning of the 20th century, European thinkers such as Paul Valéry and Edmund Husserl were able to speak about an essence of Europe and its philosophy. However, this possibility seems to be all the more questionable today. This talk will bring into dialogue the concept of “Post-Europe” as proposed by phenomenologist Jan Patočka (“Europa und Nach-Europa Die nacheuropäische Epoche und ihre geistigen Probleme” (1988)) and Bernard Stiegler’s proposal of a de-Europeanization of philosophy in light of technological globalization (“La peau de chagrin ou L’accident franco-européen de la philosophie d’après Jacques Derrida” (2006)). By exposing the resonances, tensions, and limits of these propositions, we hope to shed light on the approaches to a post-European philosophy.
